About Fleur McDonald:

Born and bred in Orroroo, the mid-north of South Australia, my Mum and Dad were fuel distributors and with dad I spent some of my childhood in the fuel trucks heading north, meeting all sorts of wonderful Northern characters.
My childhood weekends were spent either at my Nana and Papa’s station near Carrieton or playing sport, with Church on Sunday’s. Holidays in the NT at my Aunty and Uncle’s station Bond Springs as well as my parents’ station Numery were a highlight.
My brother Nick, is a professional percussionist – “Australia ’s most talented young percussionist” (ABC 24 Hours, 24 June 2003). Susan, my sister, owns the business ‘Black Jack Getaway and Blacksmiths Chatter’ and is the winner of many tourism awards.
We all attended Orroroo Area School for our primary years and I attended Annesley College, a boarding school in Adelaide for secondary.
The first year out of school I headed to the southeast of SA to do some jillarooing and then went to WA for my second year. I met my now husband when I first went to WA. In 1994 I attended Marcus Oldham Farm Management College to study Agribusiness.
Anthony and I were married in 1996 and two days after, we bought our first farm. (Anthony says he managed to halve his debt in the first 48 hours of being married!)
We now farm 8000 acres, about 110km east of Esperance. Prime lambs and cattle being our main enterprises, but we do a small amount of cropping.
We also run two studs — Angus Cattle and White Suffolk Sheep.
We have two children, Rochelle and Hayden.
